A cult erotic drama from the perverse imagination of Alain Robbe-Grillet, Successive Slidings into Pleasure delves into the twisted mind of a young woman (Anicée Alvina) suspected in the stabbing death of her roommate Nora (Olga Georges-Picot, Love and Death). Imprisoned in a convent, the girl’s seductive wiles hypnotise the cops and clerics that surround her. All submit to her sexual whims, and we are drawn into a sadomasochistic world where fantasy and reality are pleasurably blurred.
This devilishly entertaining trip into deviance is made even more alluring by the special appearances of Jean-Louis Trintignant (Amour), Michael Lonsdale (Moonraker) and Isabelle Huppert (The Piano Teacher).
